I have been running a pair of late model Tundra rear shocks on my 2" lifted 4wd. I measure about 20" from lower eye center to upper body mount at rest. The Tundra shocks are roughly 26" at full extension and the tubes are almost 2" around. I have too much slack in the coils at full extension and also it seems my rear end doesn't move much unless I am really pushing it. I believe I have too much shock absorber for my rig.
I stole a set of TRD BILSTEINS off of a late model Tacoma TRD OFFROAD truck. These are the yellow/blue high performance shocks that come oem on the trd Tacomas. They measure roughly 24" at full extension and the diameter of the tube is closer to 1.5" than 2". I think these will allow my rear suspension to be a little more "live" as the Tundra shocks I have been running seem to be working so well they rarely let the suspension move. I'm sure that dimensionally these shocks will fit great for my application. I am hoping they will move similar to my cop car shocks I have on the front end. I will try and get these in this weekend and let you all know how they work offroad. The toyota part # for these is 48530-A9680 They are very reasonably priced at 34.81 each (list price). For OEM quality Bilsteins this is a steal.
